Myeloma is a complicated and challenging disease. Your family, friends, and healthcare team are all working with you to fight this disease.
Since myeloma originates in the bone marrow, it does not actually spread, or metastasize. However, as cancerous cells increase in number in the bone marrow, they cause lesions, or areas of breakdown, in the surrounding bone; these lesions resemble metastases and have many of the same symptoms.
